Housing in Argentina: choosing a home and neighborhood

Housing shapes both your budget and your daily life after the move. At the start, split the decision into two stages: a temporary place to settle in and a longer-term rental after you know the city.

Choosing a home size

A studio suits one person who wants lower costs and does not need a separate bedroom. A one-bedroom home separates rest from work, while two or more bedrooms matter more for families and longer stays.

Count more than rooms: storage, a desk, guests and children's belongings all need space. With remote work, a quiet work zone can be more useful than extra square meters in the living room.

Temporary rent and a longer lease

For the first weeks, furnished housing with a flexible term can be useful. It gives you time to test routes, stores, schools and clinics before committing to a long lease.

For a longer rental, ask about the owner's requirements, deposit, fees, utilities and pet rules. Terms depend on the market and the specific contract.

How to choose a neighborhood

Compare a neighborhood by routes, noise, lighting, shops, healthcare and how safe it feels at different times of day, not just by photos. The same city can change dramatically from one block to the next.

Visit the home yourself or arrange an independent inspection before committing. Confirm what is included in the advertised price and which costs appear at move-in.
